About the Opportunity
ClearGov is looking for a highly productive, growth-oriented Site Reliability Engineer who will be a member of our growing team. As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting customer issues, as well as monitoring and maintaining the reliability and performance of ClearGov applications. You’ll bridge the gap between Customer Support and Software Engineering to detect and resolve issues in a timely manner and will also serve as the second level of issue resolution for requests that cannot be resolved by customer support. You will work closely with Product Management and Software Engineering teams to ensure that client issues are addressed in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain expert level knowledge of all ClearGov systems & applications
- Partner with customer support to ensure timely resolution of escalated support issues. Take ownership of escalated issues and see problems through to resolution
- Participate in virtual meetings with clients to analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose software problems
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve technical and data-related issues
- Test resolutions in conjunction with the Quality Assurance team
- Coordinate resolutions via Jira tickets with the Software Engineering and Product teams
- Communicate resolution of technical issues to Client Success team members and internal stakeholders
- Build and maintain automated alerts, monitors, and tests to detect symptoms before they become issues. Become expert at the use of monitoring and diagnostic tools at your disposal to detect and troubleshoot issues
- Work with the DevOps team to define and implement configuration changes as needed
- Collaborate with the Software Engineering and Product Management teams to identify and fix areas with high issue volume and also to implement solutions to product-related issues
- Improve operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures
- Lead timely post-mortems for critical production incidents
- Document and share knowledge of known issues with other team members and internal stakeholders
- Update job knowledge by studying best practices in site reliability engineering and technical support
Critical Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in enterprise technical support, site reliability engineering, software quality assurance, or as a technical engineer
- Experience with agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum
- Proficiency in MySQL or similar database platforms
- Experience with SaaS-based observability tools, such as CloudWatch, DataDog, Sentry, New Relic, Grafana, or Uptime
- Experience with source code management tools such as Git, GitHub, Bitbucket
- Experience with issue tracking and management using Jira or similar tools
- Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js is a plus
- Experience with deploying and monitoring services in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS or Azure) is a plus
- Experience with automated testing is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with both internal team members and external customers with varying levels of technical knowledge
- Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, operations, and processes
- Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment
- A roll-up-your-sleeves, GSD approach to the day-to-day
