About the Opportunity

We’re looking for an IT Support Specialist with a passion for learning, a kind heart, a positive attitude, and a great sense of humor to join our growing team. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for providing exceptional internal user support, ensuring the smooth operation of internal applications, implementing and maintaining  security best practices, and managing IT aspects of employee onboarding and offboarding. This role involves hands-on problem-solving, educating staff on secure technology use, and supporting all departments. Additionally, the specialist will handle the secure storage and shipping of company equipment.

The IT Support Specialist will be a key player on an incredible team as we execute our mission to help local governments and school districts take the next step from good to great.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt and effective internal user support to employees across all departments, addressing hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • Manage the IT onboarding and offboarding process, ensuring new employees receive necessary equipment and have proper access to systems, and that departing employees’ access is removed and equipment is returned
  • Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining internal applications used across the organization, ensuring optimal functionality and accessibility for all employees
  • Securely manage, store, and track IT equipment, preparing and shipping devices to remote employees or other locations as needed
  • Conduct security training sessions to educate staff on best practices for data protection, safe internet use, and phishing awareness
  • Enhance and enforce IT security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational requirements
  • Work closely with team members to provide tailored solutions that meet departmental needs, especially for application support and system access
  • Monitor and respond to help desk requests, ensuring timely resolution of internal IT issues
  • Collaborate with management to assess potential security risks and take preventative measures to protect company data
  • Maintain accurate IT-related documentation, including procedures, security protocols, and tracking of equipment shipments
  • Stay informed on emerging security threats and recommend improvements to the company’s IT security framework

Critical Skills/Experience:

  • User Support Expertise:
    •  3+ years experience in providing direct IT support to internal users, resolving hardware, software, and network issues in a professional manner.
  • Application Knowledge
    • Familiarity with supporting and maintaining internal applications, ensuring their availability and performance for employees
      • Collaboration: Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365, Zoom, Slack
      • IT Management: JumpCloud, MalwareBytes, Powershell, Scripting
      • Operating Systems: Windows, MAC OS, Android, iOS
      • Project Management: Jira, Confluence
  • Employee Lifecycle
    • Experience managing the IT aspects of employee onboarding and offboarding, ensuring secure and efficient system access and equipment management
  • Logistics
    • Ability to manage IT equipment logistics, including secure storage, preparation for shipment, and occasional lifting of hardware
  • Security Awareness
    • Understanding of IT security best practices, SOC 2 Compliance, and experience conducting training / awareness programs for employees
  • Communication Skills
    • Clear and effective communicator, able to translate technical jargon into easy-to-understand language for non-technical staff
  • Customer Service Focus
    • A people-oriented approach with a strong sense of empathy and patience while troubleshooting issues and providing guidance
  • Problem-Solving Ability
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the capacity to quickly identify and resolve internal user and application issues
  • Time Management
    • Ability to juggle multiple support requests and prioritize tasks to meet the organization’s needs without sacrificing service quality

    • Demonstrated ability to work closely with all departments, understanding their unique requirements and providing IT solutions that enable their success
  • Cloud
    • 2+ years general experience with cloud environments preferably AWS
  • Adaptability
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and applications as the company’s needs evolve
